Kindergarten Round-Up
Well, the time is finally here to realize my little guy is growing up fast. Too fast if you ask me (and my chiropractor). We've gone back and forth for several months about where he's going to go to school. We live out in the country, in one district, but I work in Topeka in another. With Bruce being a shift worker, I'm the one who would usually be dropping off, picking up, etc. The thought of Coop on a bus with all the big kids scares me because I know what those ding-dongs act like on the bus. Also, our district starts and ends an hour different than mine. So, the conclusion was reached that he's coming to school with me. It's weird, having grown up in a small town and walking to school each day, where everyone knew eachother and and if anything happened, there were neighbors and friends that could help. That's not the reality anymore, so to the big city he will go!
Friday I took off the whole day and we went to Round-Up. It's was a cowboy theme and contrary to my son's belief, was for all the kids attending, not just him. We talked him out of spurs, but did compromise that he could wear his boots. We walked in, met the teachers, and then I was physically PUSHED away with the sentence, "Go mom. Love you." HEART CRUSHER!!! :( He did great, knew one other kid and for the highlight of the day, GOT TO RIDE THE BUS!

Easter Egg Time!!!
Bruce has been working HARD on our house. First the kitchen got redone (pictures later) and then began the front deck. He had to go to KC to get the decking, so Cooper and I avoided cleaning the house or putting stuff back INTO the kitchen by heading out to Grantville for their egg hunt. He wasn't too sure about the situation, since we didn't know one person there, but he perked up when they said there was an egg hidden with a GOLD coin inside. Because he is part cowboy and pirate, gold means something to this kid. It could also have been the part where they won a prize if they found it. He was in the youngest group and as we headed out, all the littler kids were killing him with their hunting skills while he was back shaking eggs. Finally I figured out he was looking for the "gold egg". Quickly we got that resolved and he was back on the hunt.
All done with his eggs and pretty proud of himself.
That shirt's for you Grandpa Goobie!
Imagine both of our surprise when we were opening the eggs...
Crazy Kid Week
Cooper's school was celebrating the Week of the Lutheran Child, which translated into some funny dress up days.
Tie and Hat Day
Crazy Hair Day
and a program at church on Sunday
The Ek Boys' 1st Birthday
March 3rd was the first birthday of my sweet baby nephews Tyler and Brandon. I can't believe how fast a year went by with those two. It has been remarkable seeing my little brother turn from "how a sister can only see him" to the best dad in the world. He has had a wonderful role model and it's good to know that he did pay attention to some of the things he should have growing up. Anyway, Cooper and I went back home for the weekend to celebrate. Mom and Dad smoked meat and it turned out amazing. I have the best mom when it comes to potato salad, so she made normal for the weirdos, no egg for me and no onion for my cousin. She also made a fruit plate, dad made the boys chairs, they got a carseat and I can't remember what else, but hauling it all was a struggle in the cars. These little stinkers aren't SPOILED, they are LOVED! It was good to see some of the family and watch those big boys open all their presents. We got them DVD players for the car and Elmo movies. Cooper found a new girlfriend because she was a "cowgirl with boots on". Like every time we go home, time goes too quickly and I never get to see everyone or go everywhere I want to. Here are a few pics of the festivities.

The cakes were amazing, but the boys weren't in the mood
(or all the people singing to and staring at them).

The Circus
The circus came to town and Bruce was off work, so we thought we should have a fun family night together. I thought I would be Mom of the Year for getting him cotton candy...
until daddy won Dad of the Year...
He also talked his daddy into a light up sword that every other kid had and could wave in the dark during set changes. It was long and there were a lot of crazy people, but we had a fun night together.
I love my boys!
